Hanging in the rain
Got up in the morning
And looked out the window
I saw it was raining
Like cats and dogs
Started to shiver
I turned on the heater
I looked in the mirror
Dressing up for work
There is something there I can’t recognize
I got the same smile and the same eyes
But I’m not that girl that was
Down by the river just hanging off the branches
Ain’t no cover and I am getting rained on
Sitting up in the tree singing songs all day
Fish on the move, and I see ‘em at the bottom
Trying to catch ‘em with my shirt and fall into the water
How I wish it could be all the same again
Just hanging in the rain
I never believed that
The world would consume me
That it would get to me
And make me bow
It used to be easy
As simple as breathing
But everything is complicated now
And there’s something wrong I now realize
I got the same smile and the same eyes
But I’m not that girl that was
Down by the river just hanging off the branches
Ain’t no cover and I am getting rained on
Just sitting up in the tree singing songs all day
I’m not the same girl
That used to be free and so brave oh
Diving down the waterfall and worrying ‘bout it later
Oh how I wish it could be all the same again
Just hanging in the rain
Don’t know who to turn to
I wanna return to
The way I used to be,
So young and carefree
Down by the river just hanging off the branches
Ain’t no cover and I am getting rained
Sitting up in the tree singing songs all day
Fish on the move and I see ‘em at the bottom
Try to catch ‘em with my shirt and fall into the water
Oh how I wish it could be all the same again
Just hanging in the rain
